SafePolyMed supports Human Genome Meeting 2026
SafePolyMed was prominently featured at the Human Genome Meeting 2026, held in Athens, Greece, from 21–24 April 2026. Organised under the theme “Bringing our Genomes to Medicine”, the conference brought together leading international experts in genomics, personalised medicine, pharmacogenomics, and precision therapeutics to discuss the latest advances in translating genomic research into clinical practice.
A key highlight for the project was Symposium 11: “Polypharmacy and Pharmacogenomics”, which was officially supported by SafePolyMed. The symposium focused on the role of pharmacogenomics in improving treatment safety and effectiveness for patients with complex medication regimens and multimorbidity. The session was chaired by SafePolyMed partners George P. Patrinos (Hellenic Pasteur Institute & University of Patras) and Thorsten Lehr (Saarland University).
SafePolyMed consortium member George P. Patrinos also played a central role in the overall organisation and scientific leadership of HGM2026. As Chair of the Organising Committee and Director General of the Hellenic Pasteur Institute, he led the international conference programme and contributed extensively to discussions on personalised medicine, national genome initiatives, and pharmacogenomics implementation. His efforts showcased the strong engagement of the SafePolyMed network in the global pharmacogenomics community through several scientific presentations and posters related to pharmacogenomics, personalised therapeutics, and genomic implementation in healthcare.
