SafePolyMed Showcases Interactive Science at the German Unity Day Celebrations in Saarbrücken

The SafePolyMed project joined the celebrations for German Unity Day (Tag der Deutschen Einheit) from 2–4 October in Saarbrücken, Germany, by presenting an interactive exhibition that engaged visitors through hands-on demonstrations and discussions on medicine safety and personalised pharmacotherapy. The booth attracted many curious visitors and received enthusiastic feedback for its innovative approach to science communication.

At the stand, the SafePolyMed team offered several activities designed to make complex scientific topics tangible for the public:

  • A Medicine Interaction Quiz – inviting participants to test their knowledge about common medicines and their interactions.
  • A Bitter Taste Test – illustrating genetic differences in taste perception and introducing the concept of pharmacogenetics.
  • An Interactive Drug Interaction Simulator – featuring a figure where visitors could adjust medicine doses and observe the effects in real time. If the selected dose was within the therapeutic range, the simulation indicated success.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for the SafePolyMed team to engage directly with the public and raise awareness about the importance of safe and personalised drug therapies.
