Joint session with sister projects at 40th ISQua Conference
SafePolyMed will join this year's Conference of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) in Turkey. In a joint session with the Horizon Europe sister projects BE-SAFE, DELIVER and SAFEST, SafePolyMed Coordinator Thorsten Lehr will speak about enhancing the quality of care and patient safety with scientific colleagues Jean Macq, Stefan Listl and Carola Orrego, as well as Cornel Riscanu from the European Health and Digital Executive Agency. The conference will take place from 24th to 27th September. The theme for 2024 is 'Health for People and Planet: Building Bridges to a Sustainable Future' (see here for more information).
Patient safety remains one of the most pressing issues in the European health system. According to a report by the RAND corporation, a non-profit research organization, between 8% and 12% of all hospital patients in the EU experience complications in the healthcare they receive. This is an unnecessary risk to life. Thus, increasing patient safety, meaning the freedom of each patient from harm through healthcare, is of paramount importance. For more information on patient safety and the prevention of healthcare associated infections, see also the summary of the recommendation by the Council of the European Union on EUR-Lex.
