The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is the leading organization for applied research in Europe. Its research activities drive economic development and serve the wider benefit of society. They are conducted by 74 institutes and research units at locations throughout Germany with a staff of about 28,000 employees. The Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering IBMT works primarily as a technology developer and device manufacturer for life sciences and medicine/(bio)medical engineering for customers from all over the world. Its group Biomedical Data & Bioethics develops innovative solutions in the domain of digital stem cell technologies and intelligent health information systems. They comprise AI based systems for disease management and personal mobile health, IT platforms for semantic medical data integration and model development, as well as novel services for access to stem cell lines and related data.

Role within SafePolyMed

In SafePolyMed, IMBT leads the development of the Medication Management Centre (MMC) in WP3. Together with its partners, IBMT will develop a new digital model driven service for patients, physicians and pharmacists to inform about, detect, and avoid adverse drug reactions and increase safety in polymedication leveraging results of WP1, WP2 and WP4.
