SafePolyMed at 23rd International Gene Forum 2024 in Tartu

On 24th and 25th September, several members of the Consortium will present project results at the Gene Forum in Tartu, Estonia.

The presentation with the title "Exploring drug-drug-gene interactions and the occurrence of adverse drug events based on electronic health records of Estonian Biobank participants" is a team effort by Laura Birgit Luitva, Kristi Krebs, Kaire Koljal, Dage Särg, Maarja Jõeloo, Kadri Maal, Saskia Kuusk, Krista Fischer, Merve Nur Güler, Burak Yelmen, Sven Laur, and Lili Milani from the Estonian Genome Centre at the Institute of Genomics, from the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics, and from the Institute of Computer Science, all at University of Tartu. The researchers are focused on developing an evidence-based risk scoring system using machine learning on large real-world datasets to identify patients at risk.

In the session on pharmacogenomics, two consortium members will present. Julia Stingl will speak about "Precision dosing: phenotypic model based prediction of pharmacogenetic dose adjustments in situations of polypharmacy", while Thorsten Lehr will explore the topic of "Decoding the Complexity of Drug-Drug-Gene Interactions: A Pathway to Safer, Personalised Treatment".

The conference is organized by the Institute of Genomics of the University of Tartu and the Estonian Genome Foundation and will take place at the Estonian National Museum. For more information, follow this link.
